04 yfz 450 engine chatter and glowing exhaust
i went look at a 04 yfz 450 today, and the pipe was glowing red wile it was at idle, is that normal? it also had a chattering comming from the engine.(couldnt tell if it was the vales or something else) needless to say i dident buy it but i was wondering if this was normal. note the guy says the top end was rebuilt and the bike only has 8 hours on the rebuild.

Some aftermarket piston brands will clatter at idle a little bit. In fact, it is common to have a little noise at idle from even a stock motor. If it rattles right off idle, then be concerned, and especially after it is warmed up. Everything else is normal.
