One yfz in particular i rode..... the laziest power band ive felt.... it was ported and had other stuff done not exactly sure on the details. it was dyno tuned and made 62 hp lol. but i took him consistantly with my piped bike by half to 1 length. same rider weight
62 on the old templton dyno lol

ya exactly. just a insane reading dyno.

the point was the power sucked below 7000 rpm. but every builder mentioned around here won't do that to ya LOL.

ops just kickin it I'm sure.

this topic should be in the same category as politics and religion. (Jk)

your real head above you shoulders or the one on the bike, both are prob a bad idea

As most of us know, what a dyno reads for HP doesn't really mean much. Its pretty evident that if this bike had a decent amount of work and it felt sluggish that there was something done incorrectly. Even if a bike has headwork, that doesn't necessarily mean that it is quality. The style of porting, too large of cams can even make the response of a motor feel like a turd.
There are a lot of builders out there that can make a two stroke scream but can't do much for a four stroke because they think the same style porting is universal.

When people state that the power of a yfz is within the head, I'm not sure how this confuses people. Its pretty plain and simple. Generally speaking, When you port a YFZ correctly, a majority of its power gains come from the headwork itself. You can throw all of your money into other mods, piston, carb bore, cams, pipe, crank,..etc but in the end it will come down to headwork if you want to maximize your build in any way. A larger % will come from headwork, plus then the other complimenting mods will show an even more efficient gain from the headwork as well.

#3) Guys that don't have a flow bench and don't know what they're doing at all. Price* ?? Turn-around* ?? Bad results! *Price and turn-around depends on how smooth they talk*. Never send here, unless your name is Pat.. (sorry buddy) Do your research first!

#4) Guys that accept your head and sometimes port it themself, sometimes send it to another porter who knows what they're doing and return it to the customer passed off as their own. Those guys are somewhere between #2 and #3 on this list. Price $250. Turn-around* ?? Results** ?? *Turn-around depends on if the head got sent off to the other porter. **Results vary on many things and can range from bad to decent. Never send here, unless you like to gamble and you love punishment.

Weird I was able to get parts of #1 and #2

#1 Guys that have flow benches, understand how a motor works and knows what they're doing. excellent results
#2 Low price, fast turn-around

It was a mess before I did this.

that sounds good to me. just means there is one more yfz thats easier to beat then another actual fast OI , MMAD, or RE bike.
