Hey guys, i was considering getting a Quadtech seat. i have an 05 seat so i hear anything is an upgrade. But here is my question. Does getting a seat with better padding actually help? the only time my butt really hurts is when i'm leaning in the turns and i'm hitting my plastics on the edge where it meets the seat. Is there any solution to this? Or am i doing it wrong? lol
I'm really tired of feeling like i got raped after going riding lol
You should look into the quadtech Desert seat then...It is about 3 inches taller then stock and will provide you with a better ass feel after riding lol.
thanks guys! haha i have seen some desert seats and they look ridiculously tall. I'll see what quadtech says.
So if i got a cover from quadtech and some extra foam, would i put that on an 05 seat and be okay? or would you guys still recommend getting an 06+ seat and then adding on if needed?
In my opinionated opinion, I don't think a desert seat would be good for mx as it puts your center of gravity too high for cornering. If you've been riding an 05 seat for any length of time you should have enough callouses built up on your azz by now! I would think quad tech could set you up with thicker 06 style foam and seat cover to use with your 05 seat pan. I have a hump seat and its nice. Super durable too. You could put it on yourself too if you have a pneumatic stapler and know how to swear a lot. Or, you can drop it off at an upholstery shop.
I got a hold of Leah at Quadtech and she said the owner recommended either getting an 06+ seat like you guys said or getting their foam and humpseat cover which was also mentioned. I think i'm going to go with their foam and the humpseat. I think it looks pretty sweet and if it is anymore comfortable seat than the one i have now, I'll be happy.
It's pretty comfy and cool looking. The hump kinda gives you a reference point for where you're at on the seat. Toughest cover I've ever had. Only bummer I've had with it is I had quad up on grab bar working on something and gas leaked out vent tube and dripped on seat for several hours. Made that spot on seat shiny and hard, but it hasn't cracked or anything.
I do, lol! This site is the only computer- related activity that I can or even want to do! I'm on my wifeys smartphone, I don't even have a computer. So in short, it would take me weeks or even months of cussing to figure out how to load a picture. Me and computers don't get along very well.
Not as sweet as I would like. When I was a single guy I had some tricked out mx quads. Now my kids do! Dads quad is kinda low on the priority list. I've got the essentials though. After having pep zps, laeger, etc i am pretty impressed with how hard I can rail on stock suspension (adjusted perfectly though). Someday I will get my goodies though.
