Ok so my raptor 660 will not start and all it does it turn over and over and then backfiers but wont start. i can jump it and it runs great and then it will start after i ride and shut it off but if i let it sit it just does not start and always backfiers what could cause this and has any one else had a problem like this with theirs

Check your carberator pilot jet. Also check your electrical like the coil, ground wires, stator, check for good spark, etc. Cold starts are rough and hard for fourstrokes like the raptor 660, but can be tuned to work better. I don't know anything really about the Yamaha Raptor 660R, but I'm just trying to help. Maybe give you something to look at.

like already stated check carb and clean look for bad orings and worn needle jets......while ya got it that far apart and because itll be the next thing on yer list to look at go ahead and adjust the valves while youre there......simple on the 660 theyre not shims theyre old skool screw an nut......replace plug add fresh fuel an oil change, verify battery good and fully charged service air filter an go go go...
