New Member, should I buy?

Hi all,

I am new to the world of the 450 and was wondering what I should look for when buying a used one. I am looking at a 2014 450r that is in good shape. It has a MSD programmer, yoshi slip on exhuast, fuel customs intake. What should I look for when seeing it for the first time?

Thanks!!

I would say anything $4500 and under is fair. A lot depends on the cleanliness of the machine. I would ask to see the quad while it is on a stand so you can wiggle the tires and axle to make sure all the bushings are good. Look at the front, lower a-arms - if they are boogered up bad, you know the quad was ridden pretty hard through saplings.

Ask if it is still the original piston.
When was the last time he checked the valves.
When was the last time he changed his oil. If he studders or can't immediately recall a date/how long ago, then you know he isn't anal about maintainence, and I would lowball him and look elsewhere.

Ride it like your health insurance deductible has been met!

4k is a fair price for it, Ive seen some go for lower and many go for higher. Good Luck with your purchase, Ask the questions above the other member posted, Dont rush into a BUY, wait it out and look around.
