i have a 2009 yfz 450 with a Ron woods intake, sparks full exhaust, gtyr fci box, and its jetted obviousl. i also run 110 octane in it, but thinking the next stuff i wanna do is a cam and high compression piston but i would like some input what cam to get ect. also thinking of getting rid of electric start and putting kick on it to cut some weight..

stop using high octane gas for starters, that is only for high compression motors. run 93 and it will thank you. i would get some head work done before messing with cams, just do the cam mod. go high compression then you can utilize the race fuel.

Octane is the resistance to detonation. The higher the rating the more resistance. So in fact when using high octane fuel when its not needed will actually hinder performance rather then help it.

You cant beat CP pistons. Also i have ran JE pistons with absolutely no issues. Either one would be fine.

yea i would definitely take out the starter. I took off mine and in the end i probably ended up shaving 25-30 pounds which is a lot. I took off the starter, battery, all the housing for the battery so all you see when you take off the seat is the intake, I cut down the majority of the harness; these yfz's come with so much safety crap and unnecessary wires it's crazy. I took off my lights, fan, kill switch/light on/off housing on the handlebars. And you can run the lights or the fan, but you gotta choose one or the other you can't have both. Just get a capacitor and you'll be set
