Thanks Jared!! I like detail and you provided it here with reinstall tourque specs and bolt sizes. Most others just say reinstall in reverse order. Admins, maybe a link can be added to YFZ Powertrain for easier find. Thanks.

Id rather have it here in the Rossier Engineering section. There is a good write up in the power train section.

I completed the mod this week using your instructions. I will see how it performs on our trip coming up. It runs, so that is a good sign so far.

Question is, how do you check your valves from this point on? TDC is no longer the same spot for the exhaust valve. I checked my valve before removing and they were spot on. I forgot to check before putting all back together. But do I still check at TDC or now go by the mark on the cam gear and line it up with the top of the head? Basicly, Is there a need to turn the crankshaft between checking the intake and exhaust valves?

Thanks.

You check your valves the same way, as the clearance is measured between the heel of the cam and the bucket.

They're great instructions, but I would suggest not taking the tensioner out until you are at top dead center. Don't turn the engine at all until you have the tensioner back on. I took the tensioner out before turning it and the chain skipped teeth on the intake cam.

I didn't read the tread but on a fuel injected yfz there is no cam mod! Only cam swaps.. DONT SET THE TIMING IN THE MOD POSITION IT WILL CAUSE DAMAGE

Here are mixxer's thoughts on cams. Dunno if its current or if your referring to the "dirtbike" cam for more mid range as a few builds on here currently are trying out. This is the thread mixxer grabbed some of the specs from, also some good information there.

So i started to do this mod, i got everything off including the cam cover but my exhaut cam has only 1 dot/hole in it and my intake has 2. and if i get the exhaust level with the head then the intake is not level with the head, either one of the dots .Why is this? Its an 07 yfz 450 special edition. Stock from what i know Bought it used from a dealer??
