I have a 2004 yfz450 I got a good deal on I thought its been beat to hell when I got it the ppeople who owned it before me jumped started till the wiring melted after two months of work I finally got it 90%done any way I built a new aluminum air box and battery box replaced filter with a uni filter all switches and sensors replaced except for tors bypassed that got it running popped thru airbox and ran hot rejeted main to a 162 and two turn out on pilot screw runs great just runs hot oil is clean no white smoke water pump had a 1/16 of play I orders new one any suggestions would be appreciated this forum is awsome thank you

First four stroke 5 valver always had 2 Stroke dirtbikes probally 20 or so since I was young had a botched back surgery wanted sumthing not so harsh on back rode a yfz and I was hooked just holding out water pump input common problem or not my coolant light lights up on intial start then goes out don't come on while its running but I can feel the heat and no its running to hot Evan checked tps with ohmeter its spot on so is timeing any tips would be cool

These bikes run extremely hot compared to 2 strokes so its hard to tell if what your feeling is normal or not. However the water pump seal issue is a common one. I would replace the seals as well as the water pump shaft. I'd also pickup a temp gauge that way you can see exactly what temperature your bike is running at instead of relying on feel or the "dummy" light.

Thanks just don't wanna throw two months of work down the drain maybe I'm letting it idle to long iv already got the bearing seal shaft and impeller on order were can I get the water temp gauge is it oem yamaha or just one for a car I live in a small town in western ny no yamaha dealership so parts take to long to get

its aftermarket, esr and a few other companies make them. Checkout the tech quad shop or kb motorsports on here, they should both have them.

I also have a ? About the muffler its aluminum with 5tg501 with a forestry approved sticker that says summit on it summit make atv parts? The head has factory numbers with a blue ink stamp under it machine shop maybe its a pain in the ass to configure the slightly bigger aluminum airbox and battery box and mount the starter relay and clutch switch I was told the subframe has sum flex so I rubber mounted a few things

I live in jamestown ny I got a idea off this site I have a old it250 air cooled enduro (pretty much a us with a tail light and headlights) I wonder if engine would bolt into a blaster frame if I made sum motor mounts has new top end bike needs fork tube done brakes and swingarm bushings and lots of other things but engine has 30 over piston boyson reeds new clutch any one no if it will bolt up had bike when I was 18 found it for sale 18 years later had to by it 4 18e0.00$

Ya hour away not much in stock all back together new water pump gaskets and seals looks like I have more than 1 head gasket bad sign?
