Default LT suspension

Just looking for some advise from you all on what you consider to be the best MX LT suspension for the R's and the reasons why you consider them to be better than the oppositions.
I was leaning towards either the Axis Pro air, or the Fox evol GEN 2's with Houser LT A arms.
all advise/opinions will be appreciated.
Thanks

Walsh arms and fox floats are pretty good. I ran fox floats last year and after a full season on them, I'd like to try some Pep PB1's. I'm not completely sold on the fox floats just yet.

I like the Houser Slicast, I've got a pair on my Honda. I've got custom axis triple rate triple adjust as well remote res and they are great! But if you dont want to spend that much, PEP ZPS are the best shocks unless your going pro. The PB1s and Walsh set up is what alot of people are running around my neighborhood. DONT GO WITH ELKA. The Custom Axis/PEP/Fox shocks are all good shocks and are easy to work with the company still to service them.

Thanks Topdog, is your prefference standard type configuration shocks over the air type ones, and if so why as I thought that this would be an area I could shave a little weight off the front end??
Thanks again

why not elkas, i have two set ups. stage 4 long travel, and factory elkas lt on my r. on my 08 i run lonestar dc4 long travels with the elka stage 4. im sold on the elkas but not the dc4 a arms yet, their kinda a pain to adjust. on my r i have rolldesign lt with the factory elkas, i couldent be more happy. if u can adjust stock shocks then u can adjust elkas. other than setting the preloads for ride hieght, and a couple click here and there they were pretty spot on.

The Floats require alot of attention, for a shock anyways. I have to check my air pressure before I go out and ride as well as make sure I always have my air pump and guage with me. Also, my bike kind of rolls a bit in the corners. Don't get me wrong, they are very nice and I like them for the most part. They ride good and perform well. I'd just like to try the next level of shocks available.

Ok, so they have body roll issues, so what shocks are you looking at for the next level
Thanks

I would consider the Pep PB1s to be the cream of the crop. Thats what I'm going to try next. Axis makes very good shocks also.

Hmmm, not much change out of 2K for these shocks from prices I have seen advertised, where would you suggest might be the best place to find a 'bargin' on these? If I am going to spend 1400 on Fox or 1700 on Axis custom, what is another couple of hundred if they are better?

I'm not quite sure where the best place to get them from. Also, the avg rider probably wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference, if any between the top of the line shocks, if they are all setup correctly. I think I just prefer the traditional coil over shock vs the air shocks at this point, mainly just because of the air pressure maintenance. I would also consider the Elkas. The first time I've ever heard anything negative about them was when I started reading yfzcentral. I've had great luck with the stage 3 and stage 4s. I personally wouldn't mind trying the stage 5s or even the factory series.

PB-1s are nasty. Flat out awesome. I've ridden them on a few TRX450Rs and they worked just amazing. Although they aren't the same, I run the PEP ZPS w/ big bottles up front. You can get a set w/ rebound adjustable for around $1700 or $1100ish without rebound.

They have done very well on the track for me. I like my PEP ZPS over Fox for the same "dislikes" as BBC stated: roll in corners, and maintenance. It's a budget priced shock that performs pretty well on the track. Unless I can get a 50% off coupon in the mail, I don't see PB-1s in my near future, but if I could afford them, I would have them in a heart beat.

Yes, I am lazy and do not want to check air pressures every time I ride. I feel there is enough crap to remember at the races, and shock pressure isn't something I want to worry about.

I like my Fox/Houser set up...worth the money IMO

I haven't tried any other shock so I can't say whats better...I have heard nothing but good praise on the PEP and Motowoz shocks

Kovatch, good point that gave me a good laugh, very true, we do have so much other shite running thought our heads, without adding checking shock pressures to the list. The search continues!!!
